Obituary for Susan M. Bartkowiak Fish-Pierrot

Machias, N.Y. - Susan Marie Bartkowiak Fish-Pierrot, 60, of Maple Avenue, Machias, passed away Monday (September 25, 2017) in Olean, NY, after a long fight with Cancer. She was born March 13, 1957 in Buffalo, The daughter of the late Marion and Laurentia Bednarz Bartkowiak. Susan studied at Medaille College with classes in Art and Psychology. At the time of her illness, she was working as a nurse’s aide at the Pines Nursing Center in Machias and in earlier years, she had worked for People Inc., Delevan Elementary School as a teacher’s aide and SASI in Sardinia. Her interests included but were not limited to: all types of crafts, cooking and gardening, She was also an excellent seamstress amateur astronomer and upholsterer. Susan was very resourceful, creative and capable, she did many of her own home improvements and repairs. She also raised alpacas during her second marriage. Susan is survived by her two sons; Brian (Melissa) Fish of West Valley and Michael Fish (C.J) of Richmond, Va., six grandchildren; Nathan, Khari, Lorelia, Gabriel, Logan and Moriah. Susan’s family would like to express their gratitude to her many friends and to the wonderful ladies from Homecare & Hospice Cattaraugus and Wyoming county offices, for their care and compassion while caring for Susan these past few months of her illness. The family will have a private celebration at Susan’s home at their convenience. Visitation will not be observed. Arrangements were entrusted to the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home in Randolph.
