Obituary for Susan Lindquist Johnson

Susan L. Johnson, 66, of Waterboro Hill Road, Kennedy, Town of Ellington, passed away Monday (October 30, 2017) at home with her family by her side after an extended illness.

Mrs. Johnson was born November 1, 1950 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late George Robert Lindquist and Doratha J. Potwin Bridenbaker of Kennedy.

Sue was a 1968 graduate of Randolph Central School and received her Master’s in Education from Fredonia State College. She was a 34 year Elementary and Enrichment in Math Teacher for Pine Valley Central School, retiring in 2006.

She was a member and Deacon of the United Presbyterian Church in Randolph where she also served as moderator of the Women’s association, corporate treasurer, Kid’s club worker, and project head with the building and grounds committee. She was also a member of NYSUT, serving as a negotiation team representative and as secretary.

Sue enjoyed teaching, traveling, knitting, crocheting, doing crafts and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her mother Doratha and husband George Bridenbaker of Kennedy, her husband, Alan L. Johnson, whom she married on July 29, 1972 in Ellington, a son; Matthew (Avery) Johnson of Steamburg, a daughter, Elizabeth (Kenny) Kaltenbach of Ashville, a brother, Melvin (Laurie) Lindquist of Kennedy, four grandchildren; Gavin and Marley Johnson, Jackson and Morgan Kaltenbach, two step grandchildren; Kaylee Royce and Brianna Hetrick, as well as a beloved former daughter in law, Tammy Miller of Randolph and brother in law, John Reardon of Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Reardon.

The family will receive family and friends from 4-7 Thursday (November 2, 2017) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Randolph United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jennifer Delahoy will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Ellington.
