Obituary for Laura L. Bennett

Randolph, NY-

Laura L. Bennett, 94, of the Randolph Manor, formerly of Steamburg, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the UPMC-Chautauqua- WCA Hospital.

She was born October 24, 1923 in Steamburg, the daughter of the late Chandler H. and Marjorie G. Marsh Bolton.

Laura was a 1941 graduate of Randolph Central School. Laura retired as a Cattaraugus County Legislator following her career as the Cattaraugus County Election Commissioner. She was also the former Town of Coldspring Justice of the Peace and Town Clerk.

Laura was a member of the Steamburg United Methodist Church and was a member of the former Steamburg Free Church. Laura’s favorite past time was talking anything Politics.

She is survived by a son-in-law; Martin A. “Marty” Garland of Onoville, six grand- children: Timothy Miller of Falconer, Curtis and Derek Garland of South Valley, NY, Daniel Garland and Joy Garland of Albany, NY. Sandy Kiggins of St. George, UT and 8 grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents, her late husband Fred Bennett, a daughter Lorraine Garland on February 22, 2017, two grand-daughters: Cory Garland and Tamara Hoffman, a sister; Gladys (the late Harley) Acker and two brothers; Lynn Wellman and Laurence Bolton..

The family will receive family and friends from 2-3 P.M. Saturday (January 6, 2018) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, Randolph, NY. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M.
in the funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Peters will officiate. Burial will be in the Steamburg Cemetery.
