Obituary for George R. Bridenbaker

George R. Bridenbaker, 95, of 4311 Waterboro Hill Road, Kennedy, passed away 6:58 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2018 in the UPMC – Chautauqua - WCA Hospital.

He was born September 20, 1922 in Conewango, the son of the late Ray George and Myrtle Wright Bridenbaker.

George was graduate of Forestville High School, and was a World War II veteran serving in the 9th US Air Force stationed in France and London.

He was employed from 1953-1980 for the Benchley Construction Company of Forestville as a head mechanic, welder, and crane operator. He was a member of Local 17 UAW in Buffalo.

George was a member of the Randolph United Presbyterian Church. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting, welding, and working with his hands.

He is survived by a step-son; Melvin (Laurie) Lindquist of Kennedy, two step-son-In-Law’s, Alan Johnson of Kennedy and John Reardon of Boiling Springs, Pa., a sister; Ethel Frangione of Jamestown, 8 grandchildren; Matthew (Avery Forder) Johnson, Elizabeth (Ken) Kaltenbach, Burke (Alicia) Lindquist, Joshua Lindquist, Erik Lindquist, Ryan (Melissa) Reardon, Michael (Alesha) Reardon and Kimberly (Paul) Sokolofsky, 14 great grand-children, one nephew, and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doratha Potwin Bridenbaker whom he married on October 28, 1994 and who died on January 29, 2018; a son, Patrick Geroge Raymond Bridenbaker, whom died while serving in Vietnam; two step-daughters; Glenda Reardon and Susan Johnson; a brother, Edward Bridenbaker; and four sisters, Florence Butcher, Hesten Beckman, Autumn Crandall, Helen Hasmark.

The family will receive family and friends from 11-12 Friday (March 23, 2018) at the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, where services will follow at Noon. The Rev. Jennifer Delahoy, pastor of the Kennedy United Methodist Church will officiate. Full military honors will be held at the funeral home by the Randolph American Legion Post 181. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Ellington.
