Obituary for Dorothy Chadwick Chapman

Conewango Valley -

Dorothy B. (Chadwick) Chapman, 88, of Northeast Road, Conewango Valley, passed away at 11:00 P.M. Sunday (January 7, 2018) in the Emergency Room at Olean General Hospital.

She was born August 17, 1929 in Randolph, the daughter of the late Forest J. and Pearl E. (Wilcox) Chadwick Sr. Dorothy had attended Randolph Central School.

In addition to being a Home maker, Dorothy had worked as a Cafeteria Aide at Randolph Central School for 27 years.

She was a member of the Conewango Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school. Prior to moving to Conewango Valley from Randolph, she had been a 20 plus year member of the First Baptist Church of Randolph. Dorothy served on the ladies fellowship at both Church’s. She was also a member of the former Conewango Grange 547 and the Cattaraugus County Grange Degree Team as well as the NYS Ladies Home Bureau.

Her greatest love, was her family and spending time with them was the only hobby she needed.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Donald J. Chapman, whom she married on June 29, 1947 in East Randolph, Three sons; Dennis L. (Brian) Chapman of Red Creek, NY, Douglas J. (Louisa) Chapman of Conewango Valley and David L.(Cindy) Chapman of Randolph, 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is additionally survived by two brothers, Forest Chadwick Jr. of Randolph and Robert Chadwick of Conewango Valley and three sisters; Lois Dunstan of Randolph, Maine, Hesper Loomis of Lakewood and Shirley Robins of Busti.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Johnson and Evangeline Dunstan and four brothers Kenneth Chadwick, James Chadwick, Richard Chadwick and Keith Chadwick.

The family will receive family and friends from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday (January 12, 2018) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 AM Friday in the First Baptist Church of Randolph. The Rev. Mark Loranger and Rev. Ken Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in the Rutledge Cemetery, Conewango.
