Doratha J. “Dottie” Bridenbaker, 92, of Waterboro Hill Road, Kennedy, passed away Monday (January 29, 2018) in the
UPMC- Chautauqua- WCA Hospital.

She was born January 27, 1926 in Ellington, the daughter of the late Gordon and Pearl (Stafford) Potwin.

Dottie was a 1943 graduate of Falconer Central School, received her Bachelors of Science diploma from Cornell University, where she attended from 1944-1947 and later after having three children, received her Master’s in Education from the University of Buffalo in 1962.

She was a life- long educator, having taught Home Economics at Gorham High School from 1947-1949 and returning to the area, where she taught the same vocation at Pine Valley Central School from 1958 until her retirement in 1981.

Dottie was a member of the Randolph United Presbyterian Church and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and she was a former member of the Ellington Grange, Roger Potwin American Legion Auxiliary and had served on the board of the Farman Free Library in Ellington.

Her interests included, baking, fishing, sewing and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband George R. Bridenbaker, whom she married on October 28, 1994 in Ellington, a son; Melvin (Laurie) Lindquist of Kennedy, two son-In-Law’s, Alan Johnson of Kennedy and John Reardon of Boiling Springs, Pa., a sister; Inez Brumm of Newark, NY, 8 grandchildren; Matthew (Avery Forder) Johnson, Elizabeth (Ken) Kaltenbach, Burke (Alicia) Lindquist, Joshua Lindquist, Erik Lindquist, Ryan (Melissa) Reardon, Michael (Alesha) Reardon and Kimberly (Paul) Sokolofsky, as well as 14 great grand-children.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Lindquist on May 12, 1978, two daughters; Glenda Reardon on January 1, 2014 and Susan Johnson on October 30, 2017,

The family will receive family and friends from 10-12 Saturday (February 3, 2018) in the Randolph United Presbyterian Church, where services will follow at Noon. The Rev. Jennifer Delahoy will officiate. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Ellington.
