Charles Clarence Kerr “Charlie”, 87, of Flood Road, Randolph, passed away Monday (November 27, 2017) at UPMC- Chautauqua- WCA Hospital.

He was born February 13, 1930 in Canandaigua, New York, the son of the late Charles L. and Mabel R. Murphy Kerr.

Charlie was a 1948 graduate of Randolph Central School and then went on to serve as a Corporal with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Charlie was a life-long owner and operator of semi- tractor trailers and mostly hauled for Excel Trucking of Michigan, where he was recognized for having driven over a million miles with the company.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 181 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6533 in Randolph, Disabled American Veterans in Jamestown and the Cherry Creek Lodge 384 Free and Accepted Masons.

Charlie will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grand- father and great grandfather. He was an avid dog and exotic bird lover and he enjoyed tinkering with his heavy equipment, cars and trucks.

He is survived by his wife and companion of 18 years, Delores A. Peterson Kerr, six children, Bruce (Linda) Kerr of Yukon, Okla., Douglas Kerr of Bellvue, Neb., Gregory Kerr of Texas, Sheryl (Phil) Johnson of Amsterdam, NY, Nancy Kerr of Broadallion, NY and Mary (the late Karl) Riehle of Olean, NY.

He is additionally survived by two step sons; Michael Callahan and Jeffrey Callahan, 24 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, his former wife and mother of his children, Shirley A. Childs Kerr in 2015 and wife Jane Blackmar Kerr on August 2, 1998 and a brother John Kerr. .

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday (December 2, 2017) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, NY. The family will be received 2 hours prior. Burial Inurnment will follow the service in the Randolph Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the Randolph American Legion Post 181.
