Obituary for Carol Weaver Smith

Carol L. Smith, 84, of the Terrace Apartments, Jamestown Street, Randolph, passed away at 2:20 A.M. Sunday (April 8, 2018) at home while under the care of Hospice.

She was born December 24, 1933 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late H. Erle and Mable (Burnside) Weaver.

Carol was a graduate of Jamestown High School, Montgomery College in Silver Springs, Maryland, Florida State University at St. Petersburg, FL and had attended Jamestown Community College.

In addition to her many years as a home maker, she had worked various jobs, including working for the FBI in Washington, DC, Emergency Coordinator for the Skyway Bridge in St. Petersburg, FL., Secretary at VITRO in Silver Springs Maryland, the Jamestown Board of Education, the former Aoleon Corporation and Borden, Inc. in Randolph and for many years she sold Real Estate.

She was raised Methodist and was a member of the Jamestown Audubon Society, Pine Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Cherry Creek and the Randolph American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary.

Carol loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed playing bridge at the VFW in East Randolph, playing in the local golf and bowling leagues in Randolph. Her interests were; knitting, embroidery, quilting and reading.

She is survived by her son and care giver, Craig Smith of Cattaraugus, a daughter; Lynn Strunk of Savage, MD and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Ralph Beacom, two daughters; Donna Kenney and Diane Randall, a grandson; Christopher Randall, a sister; Virginia Gibson and two brothers; Hubert and Edward Weaver.

A gathering of family and friends to honor and remember Carol, will take place from 12-2 Saturday (April 14, 2018) at the VFW Post 6533, Corner of Routes 394 & 242 in East Randolph.

In lieu of flowers, memorials if desired may be sent to the Randolph Volunteer Fire Department, 70 Main Street, Randolph, NY 14772.
