Obituary for Allan E. Wiiliams

Steamburg, NY-
Allan E. Williams, 95, of Route 394, Steamburg, finally got what he desperately wanted, to go home, as he passed away on Saturday (February 17, 2018) at home with his family by his side.
He was born May 21, 1922 in Steamburg, the son of the late Lauren Eugene and Libbie (Archer) Williams.
Al attended the Steamburg School House and was a 1940 graduate of Randolph Central. He attempted to enlist in the United States Air Force at the beginning of World War II, but he was told he would be more useful running the family dairy farm. Al continued to run the family farm until his early thirties, but he then proved the Air Force wrong by buying his own Army and Navy Trainer Air Planes. He was a natural born pilot and he loved to do stunt flying.
Once Farming was behind him, Al owned and operated a semi-tractor trailer that he drove over the road for over 30 years, 25 years of which were for Trans-American. After retiring from trucking, he owned and operated his own heavy equipment business, hiring out for dump truck, Bull Dozer and basket truck work.
He will be remembered for his hard work and as a good fiend to many. He was known as the un-official mayor of Steamburg and a charter member of the R & M round table in Randolph.
He is survived by his wife Julia “Judy” Graham Williams, whom he married on October 28, 1979 in the Levant Wesleyan Church, a daughter; Melinda (Matthew) Moran and their children James, Johnny, Andi and Zane, all of Steamburg, a sister; Jeanette (Joseph) Letro, niece; Christine Ann (Richard) Hanrahan, nephew, James M. Letro and cousin Marie Grimm, all of Ohio.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Helen Winship and many cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday (February 20, 2018) at the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Kenneth Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in the Steamburg Cemetery.
To leave a condolence for the family log onto: Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Randolph, 39 Main Street, Randolph, NY 14772.
